Do you feel a spinning, faster and faster? Trying to keep up with all the pieces, the to do list.
But the faster you go, the more your surroundings begin to blur…the more we lose focus.
I’m getting off of this ride. And I have my hand out for you to join me.
No I’m not selling anything, there’s no special offer or ‘sign up now’.
I’m just asking you if you’d like to walk away from the circus with me. Because there’s a whole other way to do life and business that doesn’t require you to keep running faster.
I don’t normally share funny videos, but as I was writing this morning, this is the visual that came to mind of what I’m seeing both in our entrepreneurial community and society in general.
And no matter which hamster you are in this video, you still end up totally disoriented.
So here’s my top 4 tips to bring back one of my favorite 4-letter words…EASE:
1. Get off the ‘must go faster’ merry-go-round
It doesn’t matter your age, where you live, if you work for yourself or at a 9-5, there is a spinning, hustling, full-out run going on in society.
I believe that there’s a time to push forward and there’s a time to just be and enjoy life. But, somewhere along the path we’ve completely cut this second part out.
We’re running a race that literally has no finish line.
Think about it, when do we feel like we’ve “done enough” or that we “deserve to relax” totally guilt free?
We stay in that ‘go hard’ mode and the only way to get off the merry-go-round is to make the conscious decision that you’ve done enough, you’re good enough and you are on a divine path in perfect timing.
How can you start setting boundaries between the masculine and feminine structures to support you in reaching your goals but still embrace more ease?
2. Have hobbies that have nothing to do with making money
I spent this weekend in the mountains at a festival with my husband. Enjoying the sunshine, live music and perusing local shops.
On Sunday morning, I was sitting at a friend’s coffee shop (in this gorgeous space with the stars), and I noticed some drawings over the fireplace.
I turned to my husband and said “I’m ready to have past times again.”
You know, those things you do just for fun and not because they’re going to grow your business, help you make more money or reach the next level.
It could be reading a book, sketching, learning a new language, making candles, making jewelry. Something you do only because you enjoy it.
That space where you are just completely you. No agenda, no rules, just being.
What past time have you pushed aside or have you always dreamed of trying out? Take some time this week and give it a go!
3. Stop trying to make your business encompass everything you are
I often see women in the entrepreneurial field feel like they have to bring everything they love into their business. And you do want to bring your unique personality into your work because it will connect with others in such a powerful way that makes you stand out.
But, you don’t have to bring every piece of who you are into your business. Honestly it can get a little exhausting to try to cram it all in and can totally confuse your potential clients.
For instance, I’m a mindset, money and business coach.
This is my business. I LOVE it. I love my private mentorships, I love my group program, I love the women in my Financially Free Facebook group (hey ladies!).
I am surrounded by the most kick-ass tribe and community.
And I also love green juice, travel, language, reading, snowboarding, yoga, hiking, cooking, fashion, surfing, SUNSHINE, riding horses, culture, archaeology, acting, painting, purse making, on and on 🙂
I love my business, it’s part of who I am, but it doesn’t encompass all of me.
Nothing ever will because you are a divine endless being. You are made of star dust. Remember this the next time you’re feeling stuck around something like your website or title for your newsletter. It’s just a tiny piece of who you are.
What area are you trying to fit into your business that may be better off kept as part of what you love to do and not something you need to sell?
Which brings me to the last piece of embracing more ease..
4. Stop taking everything so seriously
I know, I know. It’s life, it’s happening now and there’s no better time to live it to the fullest.
But you’re not here to hurry up, get everything done and be perfect.
You’re here to LAUGH!
(Hence why I shared the ridiculous hamster video)
To SMILE! To have friendships, family, to explore, to try new foods, to connect to who you really are inside.
To feel the expansiveness of the world that surrounds us and that resides within us.
You are a life adventurer.
And as one of my favorite teachers, Mike Dooley, often says…we’re the otters of the Universe. Here to explore, play and design our own experience.
Where can you take things a little less seriously and bring a little more joy and laughter into your life? Maybe by forwarding this email to a friend and telling them to take 57 seconds to watch that hamster video? 😉
The point I’m trying to get across is that the option to have more ease in your life is available to you right now.
Know your goals. The steps to take to bring you toward these goals. Create a plan and leave ample time for the experiences that just make you…you.
There’s space for all your dreams to come true, both in business and life, AND to enjoy a sense of ease.
