I spent a good portion of my day in my car driving around to my clients’ homes where I acted as a mobile yoga teacher, personal trainer and health coach. I had great clients but after a couple years my business still hadn’t taken off.

Why? Because I was an expert at what I did (health and fitness) but I wasn’t an expert on how to create and run a business.

At the end of last year I decided I’d had enough with the struggle. I had basically hit rock bottom. I had whittled my budget down so that I could get by on only $1,200 a month. But let’s be honest, I typically earned much less than that. Bringing in $800 was a typical ‘good’ month for me.

So rest assured, wherever you are…I’ve been there. I know what it’s like to work hard all day every day and not see the results you desire. To see everyone else’s success stories and start to wonder what you’re doing wrong.

The piece that hit me the hardest was knowing deep down in my bones that I was meant for more. I was suppose to be doing something grand with my life and the fear that that might never come.

Having been in a business where I earned $1,200 or less only a year ago and now consistently having 10K+ months with my coaching business, I know it’s time to share exactly what had to change so that you can step into the life you dream of as well.

The life where money is no longer a concern and you can spend all that mental space that used to be focused on “How am I going to make money” on something more fulfilling.

1. Not knowing who you’re selling to and why (this needs to be super specific and light you up)

This is THE most important piece for every single entrepreneur. I see too many coaches who can’t really tell you what they do or what they sell. I know what that feels like, I used to be one of them! If you don’t know exactly what you have to offer, who it’s for and how it’s going to change your client’s life…then you can’t sell it. And if you can’t sell your product you have no income, no business and a really expensive hobby.

2. Not having the Business and Marketing Structures you need (this doesn’t have to be complicated, it can actually be fun!)

Alright, you know exactly what you’re selling and to who. Awesome! But do they know you exist? The online world is a very big place, which means endless opportunities for new clients. It also means endless opportunities to get lost in the crowd. You must have the business and marketing structures that will make you visible, let your personality shine and set you apart from other coaches and wellness experts. Plus, these structures help you look like the professional you are which means you can charge the premium rates you deserve.

3. Not having the Expert Guidance and Support to bring it all together (this can be the difference between spinning your wheels and creating your dreams)

So how do you figure out the previous two steps? You must have guidance and support from an expert. My health and fitness business is the perfect example of what will happen otherwise. I spent years trying to get clear on who I was working with and what I had to offer. I would switch up my offerings all the time because they weren’t selling. It wasn’t until the beginning of this year (after I had called it quits with my fitness business) that I had an Ah Ha moment. I had never worked with a coach or mentor who had achieved the success I desired! I had tried working harder and it wasn’t working. It was time to work smarter. And I understand it can feel daunting. The investment for my first business mentor was almost exactly what I had in my bank account at the time (let alone credit card debt). But I don’t know a single successful person who hasn’t taken a calculated risk. And having made back my investment within 24 hrs (more details on that soon) and now earning double that initial investment every month, I can say it was the best business decision I ever made.

What happens once you get these three pieces in place? The results you can create are endless.

Here’s what some of my new clients who I’ve only been working with a couple weeks have been able to achieve, and so can you!

  • Complete clarity around your expertise and how to use it to build a profitable business (no more second guessing what you’re selling and why!)
  • Feeling confident on who your ideal clients are, where to find them and how to make yourself visible
  • Having potential clients book discovery sessions with you to discuss working together (which means potential return on investment ASAP)
  • Having a sales call structure that feels good (not icky) so that you can have confident conversations with your potential clients and close the sales you desire
  • Realizing you’re already an expert and creating signature offerings with premium pricing you’re excited to sell

And this list could go on and on. My passion and purpose as a coach is to take the struggle out of you making money with the work you’re meant to do.

But nothing will change until you do. I can only do what I’m best at (which is making what your best at profitable) if you take the first step.
