How was your weekend?

I hope you’re feeling refreshed and got to enjoy the beginning of spring.

It was gorgeous here and I spent a lot of time out on our deck. But, I have to be honest, it was an unusually busy weekend for me.

As you know, I take a stand for not working nights or weekends, but I’ve definitely been putting in some overtime prepping to release some big news this week and I’ve officially hired an entire team to support me with all the pieces going forward.

I’m so looking forward to more delegating!

It reminded me of what my life was like at the beginning of being an entrepreneur, the late nights, busy work and getting stuck on some simple tech piece you knew was taking every one else minutes to deal with and yet an hour later you’re still feeling befuddled.

You know what I’m talking about!

The sooner you get money in the door the sooner you can start delegating more and more of those pieces of your business that you just don’t need to be dealing with.

So when a question came up recently in our private Facebook group ‘The Financially Free Entrepreneur’ (have you joined us yet?) I realized the answer to this question just might change the number of clients you book this week, the amount of money in your bank account, how quickly you can start delegating, and therefore, reclaim your evenings and weekends!

The question was:

“How do you overcome the objection ‘I can’t afford it’?”

So here you go!

My Top 3 Tips to Overcoming “I can’t afford it” from potential clients!

Tip #1: How do you feel about the phrase “I can’t afford it”?

Is it something you use in your own life?

I’ve been very aware of this phrase for years during my wealth consciousness journey and over the last year it has become one of the cardinal sins in my book. I do not use it and I don’t tolerate anyone around me using it as well.

I mean this with love, but…I think the phrase is balderdash. And if you are feeling tight on money ask a better question “How can I afford this?” to get the creative juices going.

Since removing this phrase from my life I notice no one says it to me anymore during my sales conversations.

Take Action: Remove the phrase “I can’t afford it” from your vocabulary and I also highly recommend starting a wealth consciousness practice such as reading The Science of Getting Rich (I read it 9 times through when I was getting my business off the ground last year to get my mindset up to speed with my desires), visualizing and focusing on feelings of wealth with a vision board (I have one called ‘My Abundant Life, Thank You’ that always gets me into a wealth frequency).

Tip #2: Are you showing clear value of what you’re offering your potential client or customer?

I find that when someone uses the phrase “I can’t afford it” it’s typically because they don’t see the value of what they’re considering purchasing.

For instance, if you suddenly had to have a $3,000 surgery tomorrow night, even if there was no money in the bank, you would figure it out. You would be calling your credit cards to extend their limits, going to the bank to get a loan, selling something, asking a friend or family member if you could borrow the funds, setting up a payment plan, etc. You would make it happen because you see the value.

The same goes with your coaching packages or the products you’re selling. If a client sees the value they’ll make it happen, otherwise they’ll say “I can’t afford it.”

Take Action: How can you clearly share the value of what you have to offer?

Have you been sharing the features of your programs (you get 10 coaching sessions, email support, a welcome packet, etc.) instead of the actual benefits and results (you’ll learn how to carry out sales calls so you can book more clients and earn more money, you’ll know the exact foods to eat this week to lose 10lbs by our vacation, etc.)? Get clear on why your ideal client needs your offering and bring those reasons into your sales calls.

Trust your gut

Tip #3: Follow the sales conversation all the way through.

Just because someone says “I can’t afford it” doesn’t mean this is the end of the conversation.

I personally don’t go into any type of money conversation, discussing prices, payment plans, etc. until someone tells me that this program is a ‘Yes’ for them.

I want to make sure we’re a good fit and what I’m offering is exactly what they need before we start discussing how the investment works. If it’s not a good fit there’s no reason to go into this discussion.

If someone says the program is a ‘Yes’ and then says they “can’t afford it”, first we’ll dive back into if the program is actually a ‘Yes’ for them. Because one thing I know, when a woman makes a decision and knows something is a ‘Yes’ for her, the money shows up.

If she’s still adamant that this is the program for her then I’ll ask if she’s available to explore where the money might come from and this opens a whole new discussion to support her in moving forward with her desires.

It’s never about me and closing a sale. I’m not attached to whether a client decides to work with me, another coach, or no one at all right now.

What I do take a stand for is a woman liberating herself from limiting beliefs around money that no longer serve her.

Take Action: How can you master your sales conversations?

Is it time to get expert support in this area or do you just need more practice? How can you stay really curious and supportive with a potential client and her desires without getting caught up in a money story or believe that there’s “not enough”?

So there you have it! This is super powerful material that can serve you THIS week.

And when you book a new client this week using these tools, I’d love to get a celebratory email from you so we can celebrate together! 🙂
