I drove about 920 miles across Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota at the end of last week. Just me and my two little pups heading up to Minneapolis where my husband was playing in several performances with the band he’s in.

A little over half way through this part of the trip, I was reminded why seeking out expert support when you need it is so important.

I was getting ready to leave Omaha, NE and had stopped by a gas station to add a little extra air to my tires before I drove up to Minneapolis. I’d topped off 3 of the tires but couldn’t seem to get the last one to take any air.

The harder I tried to fix it myself the more the air pressure dropped. Ever had situations like this in your business where the harder you try the less results you see? From 29 lbs, to 27, to 25, I was all the way down to 22lbs of pressure in my tire when I really started to get worried. You know how quickly your mind can spiral out of control and snowball with all the worst case scenarios.

“What if I couldn’t make it up to Minneapolis?? What if I have to get a new tire? I already booked the hotel for tonight and it’s non-refundable, what if I don’t even get to stay there?”

It’s amazing how quickly we can slide into negative thoughts and worries if we don’t recognize what’s happening and turn it around. I slowed the thoughts down, regained composure and took action. I realized I wasn’t able to get this tire situation figured out myself so it was time to ask for help.

I called a family member who’s great with cars, asked the guy parked next to me if he’d mind trying to air up the tire and finally went into the gas station and asked where I could find the closest tire shop.

Ever had to do this with your business? Felt like you’re taking the necessary steps and asking for help but still getting frustrated because you’re not seeing any results.

Often times when we’re trying to do something new or just don’t have the expertise in an area, we end up over pushing to try to make something happen, trying to get results, sign clients, bring in sales. And just like me with my tire situation, when we’re doing everything we can to get a certain result and still not seeing anything come of it, that’s when it’s time to find an expert.

So I hopped in my car and drove down the road looking for the tire shop that had been recommended to me. I was suddenly on a mission, I could focus on what was next to resolve the situation. When we start taking the necessary steps, the fear goes away. We’re in action, we’re in control and we’re trusting that we are provided for and protected in all that we do.

I didn’t know the area at all but there was a lot of large machinery and industrial businesses, it seemed like an area saturated with tire experts. 🙂 I drove by a business renting large equipment and could see a big garage where machinery was being worked on. So I walked into the building and was met by 5 guys sitting at desks all eagerly waiting for the next customer. I felt like I was on a stage and couldn’t help but laugh out loud and they all started laughing with me.

The energy had changed. I had turned the situation over with faith and taken action, being unafraid to put myself out there and ask for help. I told them about my situation with my tire, that I was from out of town and trying to get to Minneapolis. One of the guys immediately hopped up and had me pull my car around. Within about 5 minutes of connecting with someone who was an expert in what I needed, my tire was fixed and I was on my way.

What was the difference? This guy knew exactly what he was doing. He had the tools and the equipment to solve my problem. I had been trying to create a solution without having the right tools: an old air pump and limited expertise on the situation, let’s be honest, I’m not a tire expert.

It was so easy and fast to fix my tire when I reached out and got the expert support from someone who had the skills I needed.

How does this relate to you? Think about your business. Do you just keep trying to figure it all out on your own but can’t seem to gain any traction? This is exactly the same as my car situation. I could have freaked out, I could have gotten really shaken up about the situation. I’m sure you’ve felt this way in your business sometimes too when you don’t see the money and clients showing up the way you want them to.

This is when you too have to reach out and get expert support from someone who has the tools to help you move forward and get results. Otherwise you’re just like me at the gas station trying harder and harder and seeing the situation actually deteriorate instead of getting better with the effort I was putting in.

Stop struggling. Get the proper tools, get the expert support that you need to move your business forward, to become visible, put together a clear offer, charge the prices you desire and design a freedom based lifestyle you love.
